YBS-13.jpg

What is Hypnobirthing?

Hypnobirthing goes beyond conventional antenatal classes by teaching you how to let go of fear, attune to your mind and body, and create a deeper connection with your baby and partner. It provides a comprehensive antenatal education that equips you and your birth partner with a profound understanding of the birthing process

01

Evidence based teaching

We would not be who we are without understanding the science and the WHY behind the techniques. It's not just about Breathing for sure, but did you know how breathing is proven to slow your heart rate, reduce blood pressure and slow down the production of adrenalin. The science behind the techniques is, for me, more important than the technique itself

03

Understand your birthing body

You will learn about the anatomy and physiology of birth including what is considered normal or risky and what to expect.

05

02

Effective toolkit to aid deep relaxation

Learn the tools for deep relaxation and how to condition your body to respond to them so you feel empowered and in control

04

Understanding the hormones of birth

Getting to grips with the mind-body connection and how to change a mindset just by choosing to do so

06

Informed choice

Understanding interventions, what is available to you and knowing your rights helps you navigate a health care system and make decisions that are right for you

The Physiological Bit

To understand birth, we first need to understand how your body actual works in birth. We learn how your uterus works, what hormones promote or slow down labour and how to recognise stages of labour plus how to handle them

The Psychological bit

This is where we spend most time. The mind is the most powerful tool we own and has the biggest impact on how birth progresses and how we feel about birth. We delve deep into the mind and body connection, exploring the Fear, Tension pain cycle and dig deep into how your mind control the hormones that are released. This helps you understand what you can do to direct birth

The Practical bit

I work in an interactive workshop style, so expect to get involved. I believe that by building a healthy toolkit you can prepare for any type of birth. We look closely at the vital role of the birthing partner, key positions and use several scientifically backed frameworks to build on your knowledge and empowerment. We also focus on how to make informed decisions and navigate the NHS

The Relaxing bit

Do you truly know how to relax? Like really relax? Learning how to slow your heart rate, quieten your neocortex and release tension takes practise. Here we learn the evidence behind the techniques and the practise key breathing, massage and visualisation techniques.

The Medical bit

Understanding all of your options for intervention, both pharmaceutical or not is an important way to prepare for your birth, you certainly don't want to make a decision on whether or not to have an intervention on the day of your birth without knowing the pros and the cons.
