Service Description

You imagined your NHS birth planning appointment like to be a calm, thorough conversation where your midwife would sit with you, explore every option available, discuss how things might differ between settings, and leave you feeling fully informed. You pictured leaving with your birth plan neatly signed off with a reassuring smile. But the reality is that It’s often a rushed 10-minute chat, ticking a few boxes about what pain relief you want. The conversation is framed around what keeps the NHS running efficiently, not around what you want or need. You barely have time to scratch the surface, and the things you don’t know? You don’t even get the chance to discover them. That’s where our 2-hour birth planning session comes in. Together, we will sit down and go through everything in depth. You’ll uncover options you didn’t even know existed. You’ll create a birth plan that goes far beyond a single checkbox: Plan A, Plan B, and yes, even a C-section plan. and you'll know which things to discuss with your midwife ahead of time to ensure they can accommodate your preferences (trust me, this part is important) By the end of our session, you’ll leave with: A full understanding of your options and rights. Clearly defined non-negotiables and pre-consent decisions. Confidence to advocate for yourself in labor. A stronger, clearer line of communication with your care team. This session is especially beneficial when planning a birth outside of guidance because you will understand how to give yourself the best possible chance of getting what you have asked for. Sessions are held in your home up to an hour drive from RG7 or online
